Helensburgh Health

I am based in Helensburgh, Scotland. As a Manual Therapist with a degree in Osteopathy, I offer treatment for a wide range of conditions including:

  • fibromyalgia
  • arthritic pain including hip and knee pain
  • headaches arising from neck problems
  • joint pain
  • shoulder and elbow problems (frozen shoulder)
  • general neck and back pain (acute and chronic)
  • tension and inability to relax
  • minor sports injuries
  • general aches and pains
  • cramp
  • circulatory problems
  • digestion problems
  • lumbago
  • migraine prevention
  • muscle spasms
  • neuralgia
  • rheumatic pain
  • sciatica

Manual Therapy

As a Manual Therapist with many years experience, I don’t simply concentrate on treating the problem area but use many techniques to balance all the systems of the body.

My ethos is to treat the body as a whole. When I first see you, I will start by taking a full medical history then will give you time to tell me why you have come to see me, and what you hope to get out of the appointment. I will then perform a full examination which will help me work out what is going on – like a detective getting to the bottom of things.

The emphasis is on treating the cause of the problem and not just the symptoms, to allow the body to heal. Have a question? See FAQs or get in touch.

What to expect

On the first visit, a detailed case history will be taken and you may be asked to remove some of your clothing to allow a physical examination to take place. This examination might include looking at how you stand and move, palpation and movement of your muscles and some orthopaedic and neurological tests.

Once a conclusion is reached, a treatment plan is formulated to suit you, with your agreement and tailored to your specific needs. This may require follow-up appointments, but this will be discussed fully with you.  After your first treatment you will leave with a treatment plan, with treatment as agreed and take away advice on exercises and a full understanding on what’s next. At any time, even after your consultation, you can get in touch to ask questions.

Prices

Full initial consultation (including treatment) – £85 (allow approximately 1 hour)

Follow-up appointments according to your individual treatment plan – £50 (allow approximately 30min)

Fee for missed appointments or cancellations with less than 24 hours notice – FULL FEE (excludes illness)

Appointments available 9.30am – 4:30pm Mon to Weds (closed Thursdays) and Friday 9:30am – 3pm. Payment by cash or card (all major cards and Apple Pay accepted).

About Lynn Robertson

BSc (Hons) Osteopathy

I have an Honours Degree in Biochemistry and a Masters in Clinical Biochemistry. After working in the National Health Service, using my degrees in the clinical setting, I moved into the Pharmaceutical Industry. I worked extensively in clinical safety as part of clinical research until I retrained as a professional Osteopath in 2004.

I graduated from The College of Osteopaths (London) with a 2:1 Honours Degree in Osteopathy in 2009 (my degree in Osteopathy took 5 years). I am also qualified in the use of ultrasound and dry needling (Western acupuncture). Previous to moving back home to Scotland, I worked for several years as an osteopath in Hertfordshire, moving to North Ayrshire in 2012. In 2018, Helensburgh became my home. In 2023 I took the decision to remove myself from the Register of Osteopaths to allow me more freedom in my practice. As such, I can no longer call myself an Osteopath, though this does not in any way affect my style and quality of treatment.

Where is the clinic?

I run my clinic from 31 Grant Street in Helensburgh (G84 7QN).

This is by the traffic lights at the corner of Grant St and East King St, opposite the Police Station. There is usually ample on-street parking on Grant St, with several dedicated disabled spaces. If there are no spaces available, the free car park opposite (straight across at the traffic lights) will provide plenty of parking. The room is on the ground floor with direct access from the street. Unfortunately, there is no waiting room available so please text me on your arrival, and I will let you know as soon as I am free.

The room is conveniently located a short walk from Helensburgh Central train station – this service includes stops at Cardross, Dalreoch, Dumbarton Central, Dalmuir and Glasgow Queens St. It is also a short walk from the main bus stops at Helensburgh Central Station, and convenient for the taxi rank, also at Helensburgh Central Station.

If you are travelling from further afield, e.g. Strachur, Arrochar, Dumbarton, Balloch, Balmaha, please allow plenty of time for your journey, or check the traffic situation before you set out.

Helensburgh Health, 31 Grant Street, Helensburgh, G84 7QN

What areas do I cover?

Helensburgh is located in Argyll and Bute, on the Firth of Clyde, not far from the Royal Naval Base at Faslane. The town is situated just outside Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, though Balloch, Luss, Arrochar, Drymen and Balmaha are all within easy reach.

Choosing the right Manual Therapist is an important decision. You want to know that you are seeing a professional that you can trust. If you have any questions about how I can help you, then please call.
